Are reservations required?
Reservations are not required, but recommended to assure an announcement is available when the baby arrives. An announcement may be ordered on the date the baby arrives, but there is no guarantee that we will have an announcement available to deliver.
Is there a charge to book a reservation?
Reserving your announcement is completely free. You only pay for the cost to rent the announcement for your desired time period & delivery if applicable.
How much notice is required to have an announcement delivered?
If we have the appropriate announcement in stock at the time you request delivery, deliveries can be made within 12 hours. However, we highly recommend reserving an announcement prior to the baby's arrival to assure we can have your announcement in stock, personalized, and delivered as soon as the baby arrives!
I want to order an announcement as a gift for the new parents. What do I need to do?
If you order an announcement as a surprise or gift for the new parents, we will leave a card on the door which tells the new parents who sent the announcement.
Do you offer gift certificates?
Yes! Please contact us directly to purchase a gift certificate. We can either send you the certificate once payment has been received, or we can mail it directly to the expectant parents on your behalf. We include detailed information for the new parents on how to redeem the certificate once the baby arrives.
What are your announcements made of? How large are they?
All 'Precious Cargo' announcements are made of durable plywood and painted with high-quality paint and sealer. The 'Precious Cargo' announcements measure approximately 5.5 ft tall and 4 ft wide.
When will the announcement be delivered?
All deliveries are made between the hours of 10 a.m. and 8 p.m., 7 days a week.
Does someone have to be home when the announcement is delivered or picked up?
It is not required that someone be home. Our technique of installing and disassembling the announcments is very quiet so we do not disturb the new parents or baby. Since the announcements are paid for in advance, there is no reason for us to contact the new parents at the time of delivery/pick up.
Do you offer other yard announcements besides the 'Precious Cargo' Announcements?
Not at this time. There will be additional designs for yard announcements available in the future! We do offer holiday displays for the yard.
What is a personalized keepsake?
A wooden plaque that measures approximately 12" x 16". We hand-paint the plaque (pink for girls, blue for boys) then personalize it it with the baby's information. The plaque is bolted to the yard announcement during the rental period, and strung with ribbon and left for the new parents after the rental period is over. Please refer to the 'View Signs & Keepsakes' page of the website for an example of the personalized keepsake. If you have a special request for the keepsake that differs from our standard plaque, please specify this at the time you reserve the yard sign.
What information goes on the personalized keepsake?
Plaques are personalized with the baby's first and middle name, birth weight & birth length. We request that the purchaser of the announcement contact us as soon as possible following the baby's delivery so we can personalize the plaque in a timely manner and deliver the yard announcement promptly.
How will I receive my personalized keepsake?
Personalized keepsake plaques will be left on the doorstep after the rental period is over. We will not knock on the door or ring the doorbell out of respect for the new parents and baby.
What if I live in an apartment or don't have room for a yard announcement?
You have the option of purchasing the personalized keepsake only. It is the perfect size to hang on the hospital door or the front door of an apartment or condo. It's also a great way for the proud grandparents to announce the birth at their own house! Please see the ordering page for more information on purchasing the keepsake only.
Do you charge a delivery fee?
Sometimes, depending on where the delivery address is located. A $20 delivery fee is applied to orders delivered in Dallas or Grayson counties. Free delivery applies to any addresses within Denton & Collin counties.
When is payment due?
Payment is required prior to the date you request your announcement to be delivered. Please view the 'Pricing' page for more information on payment options.
Do you accept credit cards?
We are not equipped at this time to accept credit cards directly; however, you may pay via Paypal using your credit card at http://www.paypal.com. For your convenience, we also accept check or money order as payment.
May I water my lawn while the announcement is in my yard? What about lawnmowing?
Our signs are coated with waterproof sealant, so watering around or on our announcement is okay. Please do not mow or trim the grass near the announcement as it may cause damage to the finish of the announcement.
Can I move the announcement once it is placed in my yard?
Please do not try and move or alter our announcements in any way. If there is a problem with the announcement or its location, please contact me and I will be happy to discuss the options with you.
Do you have a refund policy?
I will offer a full refund if you cancel your order at least 48 hours in advance, or if extreme circumstances prevent us from delivering and/or installing the announcement. Please contact me directly for further questions on the refund policy.
